What I check before I start
Most smart device problems sit behind the wall, not in the app.
A smart switch may need a wire that older homes do not always have in the box. A video doorbell may need more power than the transformer supplies. Starve it and you get a doorbell that keeps restarting and looks like a wifi problem.
I look at what is there first, then tell you what works.
Common questions
I already bought the devices. Will you install them?
Yes. You hear up front if one of them will not work with your wiring.
Do you set up the app as well?
I get the device onto your wifi and confirm it works before I leave. Building a whole automated home across several apps is past what I do.
My smart switch needs a wire I don't have.
Two options. Swap to a switch built to work without it, or run one to the box. Which one wins depends on your wall and your fixture. I tell you what each costs.
Can you run network cable in a finished house?
Usually. How hard it gets depends on how I can reach it. I look before I quote.
